School backpack size: start with the items and opening

A tall backpack and a wide opening answer different questions. When choosing a school-bag range, begin with the books, folders and smaller items your customers carry. Then bring those details to the model discussion.

The short answer

Start with the actual books, folders and other items, including their covers. Use the bag’s listed dimensions to make a shortlist, then discuss the main opening and separate pockets with your salesperson. A model photo and your item measurements give the sample room a useful starting point.

Two examples from the range

FG-116A mesh backpack with white trim and a separate horizontal front zip pocket
FG-116A: listed size 30 × 14 × 42 cm, L × W × H. The photograph shows the body and zip arrangement, rather than internal measurements.
FG-112 school backpack with a rounded main zip and separate projecting front pocket
FG-112: the rounded main top zip and large front pocket are separate openings.

Write down the kit, including its covers

A folder, a stack of books and a pencil case give the size discussion something concrete. Measure the largest item with its cover or case in place, then note the thickness of the group you want to carry together. A ring binder can have a different outline from a soft notebook, even when their paper is the same size. A photograph beside a ruler helps explain that difference. Include the bottle or lunch container if it belongs in the same kit, and say which smaller items you would prefer to keep in a separate pocket.

Read bag dimensions as a starting point

The listed size of FG-116A is 30 × 14 × 42 cm, in length × width × height order. Those are bag dimensions, rather than a measurement of the space inside or the width of its opening. Seams, the opening curve and the chosen interior arrangement form part of the actual version. A size comparison helps narrow the shortlist; it does not establish that a particular device or folder fits. Share the item measurements with your salesperson so we can discuss the opening and layout together.

Separate the main opening from front pockets

FG-112 has a rounded top zip and a large projecting front zip pocket. FG-116A has a mesh body and a separate horizontal front zip pocket framed by white trim. Each front pocket has its own opening, apart from the main section. When looking at these models, consider which items belong in the main body and which should have a separate place. The visible zip line shows the opening arrangement; its length in a photograph does not give a usable opening measurement. We can bring your preferred arrangement into the sample brief.

Turn your item list into a range proposal

If you like the body but need a different opening, pocket or size, our pattern room can develop that direction with your brief. The designer can first show your logo and colours in a free visual. Your salesperson keeps the selected model, item dimensions and agreed changes together as the sample is prepared. Stock styles start at 500 pieces per model and colour; custom versions start at 1,000. Stock samples take 7 days and custom samples take 15 days to prepare, plus courier time. Send your item list and a model reference, or see how sampling works.

Questions about this choice

Questions about backpack size and openings

Can I choose a school backpack from its height alone?

Height is one reference. The largest item, its cover, the thickness of the planned kit and the opening arrangement also belong in the brief. Share those details with your salesperson so the model and layout can be discussed together.

What should I send for a different size or opening?

Send the model code, a photo or sketch, the measurements of the intended items and your preferred pocket arrangement. Your salesperson brings these into the development brief, with the selected details recorded for the physical sample.

  • Keep body and interior dimensions separateFG-116A’s listed 30 × 14 × 42 cm size helps compare outlines; it does not prove item fit.
